I didn’t get to get comics on the 13th, so this list is for two weeks
I just finished reading Justice Society of America #26, and I honestly didn’t think Geoff Johns could write a story that didn’t involve any attacks on the characters, anyone dying (or at least being horribly maimed), and no real strife at all. He did all of that, and more – it was one of the best slice-of-life character pieces in any comic book ever written. There are some memorable bits in there from from the art team too – the splash page in the dentist’s office is so silly, but I’d love to have that on my comic room wall. The bits in the convenience store between Hourman, Damage, Judomaster, and Jesse-Liberty-Quick-Belle are simple and genius. The final page is a nice farewell, and couldn’t be more appropriate in it’s delivery. I’m not usually on the Geoff Johns bandwagon (he’s written both the second BEST and second WORST Flash comics ever written, and I’m not gaga over either the Sinestro Corps War or Blackest Night), but this was a great read. It’s nice to see a simple feel-good comic every once in a while, one where the exiting team doesn’t feel the need to end on a big bang or shake things up for the next creative team.
