Majel Barrett Roddenberry dies at 76 years of age
Call me a geek, nerd, dork, whatever you need to. This is a sad day for Trekdom. Majel Roddenberry was so integral to all that is Star Trek... from the voice of all Federation starship computers in EVERY incarnation of the show to Lwaxana Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation. She even appeared in an episode of Babylon 5 as a show of solidarity (according to Wikipedia, the fans of the two shows had a rivalry early on). She made an effort to appear at one major Star Trek convention each year... as a confirmed fanboy, it does impress me when celebrities go through the trouble to make an effort to connect with fans (as opposed to just waiting to be invited or ignoring them altogether). It's nice to see that she at least reprises her role as the voice of the ship's computer in the new movie coming out.
